🎃 AFF Pumpkin Patch Adventure

Join Autism Family Friends for a relaxed fall outing at Hazelmere Pumpkin Patch in Surrey!

We’ve intentionally chosen a smaller, more low-key pumpkin patch and an early-season date to help create a calmer, less crowded experience for our AFF families. This event is all about enjoying the simple fun of fall—exploring the pumpkin patch, taking in the autumn scenery, and spending time together as a community.

Most importantly, come as you are. 💛

There’s no pressure to stay the whole time, participate in every activity, or have the “perfect” pumpkin patch experience. Families are welcome to take breaks, move at their own pace, and do whatever works best for their children.

Pumpkins are optional and are priced by weight and variety.   Outside food is allowed but Mr. Tube Steak will be on site for our date. 

Whether your child wants to run through the patch, carefully choose the perfect pumpkin, explore for a few minutes, or simply hang out with other AFF families—we’d love to have you there.

We’re proud to share that Autism Family Friends is partnering with Vancity for the very first time to bring a sensory space to Car Free Day on Main Street this September 13!

Car Free Day is a vibrant, high‑energy community celebration — and we want to make sure everyone can enjoy it comfortably. That’s why AFF will be hosting a dedicated sensory space designed for anyone who needs a moment to recharge, take a break from the festivities, or simply enjoy our calming sensory equipment.

A cozy, creative evening just for moms to slow down, reconnect, and explore art as a tool for grounding and self‑care.

Spend the evening with our special guest, Rita Tai, as she leads us through grounding drawing, a meaningful “Mom’s Cup: What Fills Me?” activity, and easy art‑based regulation strategies to try with your kids at home.

A gentle, supportive space to breathe, create, and connect. 💙

We’re excited to launch the first in a new pilot series: Rhythm Connections, a relaxed and interactive music exploration program for autistic children and their parent, guardian, or caregiver.

Together with our partners at Peoples Music Therapy, families will be invited to explore sound, movement, and connection through drums, keyboards, shakers, and more in a calm, supportive environment.

This session is designed to be flexible and sensory-friendly — children are welcome to engage in their own way, take breaks as needed, or step in and out of the space freely. The focus is on play, comfort, and connection, not performance.

Whether your child enjoys singing, drumming, dancing, listening, or simply exploring sound, this program offers a space to discover their own musical voice together with their caregiver.

Calling all AFF dads! ⛳️

Join us for a relaxed Father’s Day mini golf night at West Coast Mini Putt — a chance for dads to get together, unwind, laugh, and connect with other dads in the community.

We’ll have two staggered tee times, with one group starting at 6:10pm and the second at 6:20pm, so everyone will still overlap and get to hang out throughout the evening.

Regular mini golf pricing is $18 per person, but AFF dads will receive a discounted rate of $15 per person.

After mini golf, dads are welcome to join for an optional self-paid dinner at Free Bird Table and Bar (5991 Alderbridge Wy, Richmond) to keep the conversations going.

No kids, no agenda — just a fun night out with other dads who get it.

AFF Choo Choo Mini Train Adventure

Join Autism Family Friends (AFF) for a fun afternoon at Burnaby Central Railway! This public community event invites families to enjoy a ride on the mini train, explore the grounds, and take part in a relaxed day of outdoor fun.

Each ticket includes one train ride. Children under 3 ride for free - tickets are only required for riders aged 3 and up.

AFF will also have a designated tent on site for AFF families, a welcoming, supportive space to take a break, connect with our team, and enjoy the event at your own pace. Whether you need a quiet moment or just a familiar place to land, our tent is here for you throughout the afternoon.

Our April location will be at TERAs Bean in Brentwood, Burnaby. This informal meet-up is a chance to connect with other parents in the Autism Family Friends community, share experiences, and talk openly about the joys and challenges of parenting autistic children.

Each month, the Weekend Coffee Meet will rotate to a different city, making it easier for families across the region to join when it’s closest to them.
